Therapy
Our clinicians provide psychological and psychotherapy services to individuals with a wide variety of concerns. We work collaboratively with clients to help them accomplish their individual goals and believe that everyone has a unique mind with strengths that have helped them cultivate their best qualities. Our job is to listen carefully, ask questions and help you understand any patterns that may be impacting your thinking and behaviour. We may suggest alternative interpretations of events or new strategies, ask questions to stimulate your thinking, and serve as an objective sounding board. We work primarily from a Cognitive-Behavioural model of therapy (CBT), though many of us also incorporate other techniques from related and complementary therapeutic approaches as they are relevant and helpful for an individual.
Therapy is a confidential process designed to help you address your concerns, come to a greater understanding of yourself, and learn effective ways of coping. You should know that sometimes this work can also bring up negative and difficult emotions and it can be hard work. We will be here to support you during these times and to help you see the benefits of doing the work. At any point, you may discuss your feelings about the process with your clinician and together the treatment plan will be adjusted as needed. You will not work on things you are not interested in working on and you can ask to slow down or stop therapy at any time.
